Cookie and tracking policy for bookgeist.app

1. What this policy covers
This policy explains what the bookgeist.app and bookgeist.art websites measure, what is stored in your browser and how you can change your choice. It supplements the Privacy Policy. The controller is Luis González López (Kalapps Studio); you can write to us at [email protected].
2. Measurement that does not need your consent
We measure our campaigns with daily aggregate counts in a Cloudflare database. We count entries through campaign links and clicks on the links to the App Store, the Android list, bookgeist.art and our Instagram, TikTok and YouTube profiles. For each click we only add the day, the destination, the area of the page, the path of the page it was made on and, if that page is a campaign’s landing page, the campaign. Openings of the /app link printed on bookmarks are recorded one by one, with a random identifier, the server date and time, and the /app path. Campaign links add a mark to the address of the landing page with the campaign name and a ten-minute time slot. The mark is the same for everyone who arrives through that link in that slot, stops counting after two hours and does not identify you. These records do not store IP addresses, browser information, the full address, other URL parameters, or account or visitor identifiers. They are not combined with other data, not shared with third parties and only serve the statistics of our own websites. We delete them automatically after 25 months at most and review that period regularly. An opening or a click does not prove an installation or identify a person; repeat visits may count again. This measurement does not require your consent because it is limited to anonymous audience statistics for our own websites (Article 22.2 of the Spanish LSSI and the AEPD guide on audience measurement tools).
3. What we only do with your permission
Only if you accept it in the privacy notice on bookgeist.app, we also:
- load Cloudflare Web Analytics on bookgeist.app pages for aggregate statistics about visits, pages viewed, referral sources, country, browser, device and loading performance. Your browser sends those technical measurements to Cloudflare. According to its documentation, this service does not use cookies or local storage to measure usage and does not fingerprint individuals. We do not send it form contents, your email or your library, or link its metrics to a Bookgeist account, and the sign-in callback page is excluded. These statistics help improve the website and are not used for personalized advertising. bookgeist.art does not use this analytics service. More information: Cloudflare Web Analytics;
- carry the campaign mark from page to page while you browse, to attribute the clicks you make on other pages to the campaign;
- add one sign-up to the campaign’s daily count if you join the Android list during that visit, without storing it with your email.
If you do not accept, or until you choose, none of this happens and the site works exactly the same. We store your choice and its date in your browser’s local storage, under the name “bookgeist-privacy-choice”, for 12 months, so we do not ask you on every page. Your choice is not sent to our servers. After that period, or if we change what we ask for, we will ask you again. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy preferences” link in the footer; if you withdraw permission, the site stops carrying the mark from that moment and stops loading the analytics from the next page (a page that had already loaded it may still send its last measurements when it closes). The legal basis for these uses is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Campaign sign-up counts are deleted automatically after 25 months at most.

Bookgeist does not set cookies on these websites. The support and Android list forms use Cloudflare Turnstile to check that a submission is not automated. Turnstile loads from challenges.cloudflare.com and runs the check in its own frame; anything it stores for that check is governed by Cloudflare’s privacy policy. It is described in section 3 of the Privacy Policy, where the bookgeist.app forms are explained.

6. How to change your choice
Use the “Privacy preferences” link in the footer of any bookgeist.app page. You can also clear the site’s data in your browser; in that case we will ask you again.
7. Changes to this policy
If we change what we measure or what we ask of you, we will update this page and its date. If something new needs your permission, we will ask you again.
