Privacy for Android testers
Last modified: 2026-10-27
This English text is a translation of the binding Spanish version and is provided for convenience.
1. The general policy protects you too
Being a tester does not reduce your privacy rights. The full Bookgeist Privacy Policy applies to your use of the app just as it does to any other user. This notice supplements it and explains the processing specific to the Android testing programme.
The controller is Luis González López (Kalapps Studio). For questions about data, to exercise your rights or to leave the programme, email [email protected]. For help with the beta or an issue, you can email [email protected].
2. Registration, invitations and tester accounts
When you sign up, we process the email address you provide for Google Play, your language, the registration date and a record of your consent. If we invite you, we may record the sending and status of the invitation. Signing up does not guarantee an invitation or immediate access to download the app.
When you create or link a Bookgeist account to take part in testing, we may associate your registration with its account identifier and record account creation, linking and testing access status. If you receive a test licence, we may record its grant and validity. Linking lets us check access and investigate issues without confusing accounts or versions.
3. Checking beta usage and operation
Accounts identified as testers may be subject to checks of the usage and operation of Bookgeist’s connected services: available technical activity, features of those services used, operation dates, app version or build when provided, platform, outcomes, errors and response times. Where necessary to investigate an issue, these records may be related to the relevant tester account; we do not describe them as anonymous if they allow that association.
We use only the minimum data necessary to verify participation and access, reproduce bugs, check fixes and compare the stability, performance and operation of different beta versions. Connected-service records are not a complete history of everything you do in the app or offline.
This processing does not authorise general access to your library, notes, files or private content, or tracking of other apps. Optional technical diagnostics retain the controls and consent described in the general policy: signing up as a tester does not activate them by itself. Any additional measurement requiring specific information or consent must be presented before it is enabled.
If you voluntarily submit a bug report, we process what you choose to include and its technical context to investigate it. Screenshots you attach may show personal data: review their content and avoid unnecessary private or third-party information.
4. Internal use and necessary providers
Programme records are used within the Bookgeist platform to manage testing and improve beta operation. We do not sell or publish them, use them for advertising or disclose them to third parties for their own purposes unrelated to the programme. Internal access is limited to authorised people who need it for those tasks.
The platform uses technical providers for hosting, authentication, email delivery and, when you authorise it, diagnostics, as described in the general policy. Google Play also distributes the beta under its own terms. This does not mean data never leaves your device or that no provider is involved: the recipients and international-transfer safeguards explained in the general policy apply.
5. Legal bases and your choices
Voluntary list registration and reports you choose to send are based on your consent, as explained in the general policy. Data necessary to provide and protect your account’s services is processed under the bases applicable to those features specified there; being a tester does not make all account activity consent-based or constitute unlimited authorisation.
You can withdraw registration consent and ask to leave the programme by emailing [email protected]. This may prevent us from continuing to manage your invitation or testing access, but does not affect the lawfulness of earlier processing. Deleting your Bookgeist account is a separate action: see how to delete your account and data.
6. Retention and rights
The general policy’s periods and criteria apply to each category of data. List registrations are kept for a maximum of six months from submission. Account records, issue reports and technical data have their own periods; beta participation does not extend them or authorise indefinite retention. Testing-specific data is kept only while necessary to manage participation or investigate the operation of beta versions, within those limits.
You can request access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction or portability, as applicable, and withdraw your consent at [email protected]. The general policy explains how to exercise your rights, response periods and the right to complain to the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD).
7. Changes to this notice
If programme-specific processing changes, we will update this notice and its date. We will inform you of relevant changes and request additional consent where required. This notice does not replace the app’s specific permissions or consents.
